Skudai- here i come!
I’m drop dead bored this chinese new year cuz mum and dad is not around. friends are around, but busy. uncles are around but busy. aunts are around… also busy. hmm.. so might as well write a blog about my trip to Johor with two of my best friends to help out the flood victims- TRIOS TO THE RESQUE!
the trip was organised by a church, don’t really know which church, but jeremy called me a night before they trip. was a rush actually. stupid jeremy. he called me around 5plus to tell me to confirm before 6. so after confirming, he told me that we need to leave at 3 in the morning. hahaha, but it was the postponed to 5.
we met seng wai(uncle seng) outside jeremy’s church(i forgot the name of the church already) and followed his car to DUMC. there we met more volunteers who already went and is going again. it was nice knowing people that actually does the work rather than just talking. we left DUMC for Skudai at 6 plus.
uncle seng is always gets lost. and i think those guys who were leading the convoy must be like…."they got lost AGAIN!?!?" hahahaha, but he’s a nice person to talk to. me and jiun slept throughout the trip cause we only slept for half an hour before leaving to the church. we reached at about 11 and briefing started soon after that. started work at about 12 and ended at about 5. our work was mainly to distribute food and some basic needs like toilettries for the first day. the cleaning up duty was done by the previous groups that came. we went house to house to give out the things (and there’s like more than two hundred houses i think) so that there’s no complication.
at first, when we arrived at the village, i was thinking- the damage is not really bad, why would we even think of coming to help. and surprisingly, some of them was reluctant to take the donation. but as we progresses to the inner part of the village, the damage was really terrible. most of the houses have NOTHING in them. just an empty house as the flood had sweeped away everything. the things left with them like the fridge and tv was beyond repair. during the debriefing by the pastor, i slept. hahaha, i think everybody must be thinking- this boy ar.. no manners, but i was really really tired. dozed off just like that. the second day was distributing mattresses and it was not that tiring. uncle seng wanted to leave early too, so we left at about 3-4pm for KL. talked to uncle seng throughout the trip. this guy is really funny. he’s an artist and does a lot of freelance work. nice guy.
the whole trip was fun. met some new friends- sincere friends. was really nice to know ppl like uncle seng and cheryl. and there’s this big guy( forgot his name- but it sounds like an indian name). there’s many more la.. just that i forgot all their names already. can’t mention here. hahaha- always forget names! i hate it la. the trip greatly influenced me. i know jeremy and jiun are good reliable friends. i know i want to join christianity. and i’ve learned to try everything. if there’ll be anymore trips like this, i’ll definitely be going.
